Now talking about belching, you must have seen elders taking long belches after eating food. They say belching means your stomach is full. Now how true this is, hardly anyone would know. Have you ever noticed when you burp and when you don’t?

It has been found that we belch 2-3 times in a day after or before eating food. Burping is also very common. Sometimes you belch after eating food, and sometimes you belch in an empty stomach.

Yes, have you found out why you belch more in winters? Yes, just think hard these days, don’t you belch again and again these days? Let us tell you in detail about the causes of belching in this article today.

What is belching?

Burping is your body’s way of expelling excess air from your upper digestive tract. This problem occurs when you swallow excess air. You will be surprised to know that this air never even reaches your stomach. It gets stuck in your esophagus.

Why does belching come?

You have come to know what is belching, but why does it happen? There can be many reasons for this. You can swallow excess air if you eat or drink too fast, talk while eating, chew gum, or drink carbonated drinks or smoke.

Acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) can sometimes cause excessive belching by promoting increased swallowing.

Why do we belch again and again in winter?

Now the most important question, have you noticed that belching is more in winters? We also feel very hungry in the winter season, so we keep eating and drinking snacks, sweets, desserts, tea and coffee etc. again and again. Our digestive system needs time to digest things properly. While the digestive system does not work so fast. Our physical activity decreases in winter, which makes this work even slower. Due to oily, carbonated foods, belching is more in this season.

These food items become the cause of belching-

Beans- Beans contain raffinose, which the body cannot digest. Consuming these causes gas to form in the stomach and it also comes out in the form of belching.

Dairy products- If you get frequent belching after eating dairy, then you may have lactose intolerance. Many people have difficulty digesting lactose. Sugar found in dairy products, which increases gas.

Carbonated drinks- Carbonated drinks are also the reason for increasing belching. Actually through this you also swallow carbon dioxide bubbles which makes gas in the stomach. This also causes bloating in the stomach.

Some fruits- Fruits like apples, pears and raisins etc. are the reason for the formation of gas in the stomach. They contain sorbitol (a type of sugar alcohol), which can make you belch more often.

Spicy Food- Acid reflux is triggered by excessive consumption of spicy or acidic food. Eating such food gives you heartburn. Throat starts burning along with the stomach and sour belching also starts coming.

Hmmmm, now tell me what is it that you are eating the most these days and that is causing your belching! Even in winter, it is important that you keep doing physical activity continuously and regularly.
