We all know that red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body. If you have low levels of iron in your blood, you may experience weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, loss of appetite, and a rapid heartbeat. If this condition persists for a long time, then it is a sign of anemia. Therefore, it is important that you pay attention to increasing hemoglobin immediately. Read this article to know what you should do for this (How to increase hemoglobin).

For adult men, the ideal level of hemoglobin is 14 to 18 grams per deciliter (g/dl) and for women, it is 12 to 16 g/dl.

We will be talking about 6 natural ways to increase hemoglobin in your blood:

1. Eat Iron Rich Foods

According to the National Anemia Action Council, iron deficiency is a common cause of anemia and low hemoglobin levels. In addition to chicken liver and whole eggs, include green leafy vegetables like spinach, beetroot in your diet. Fruits and dry fruits including apple, pomegranate, watermelon, pumpkin seeds, dates, almonds, raisins should also be eaten.

2. Include Vitamin C in the diet

In case of low hemoglobin levels, it is good to have both iron and vitamin C together. Including this in your diet will not cause iron deficiency in the body as the body will be able to take iron properly from your diet. Foods ranging from oranges, lemons, strawberries to papaya, bell peppers, broccoli, grapefruit, and tomatoes are rich in vitamin C.

3. Increase Folic Acid Intake

Folic acid is a B-complex vitamin needed to make red blood cells. Green leafy vegetables, sprouts, peanuts, bananas and broccoli are good sources of folic acid. Apart from this, beetroot is also a great option to increase the number of red blood cells in the body.

4. Eat an apple everyday

An apple should be eaten daily as it can help in maintaining and increasing the hemoglobin in the blood.

5. Avoid Any Iron Blockers

Beverages such as coffee, tea, cola drinks, wine and beer can actually hinder your body’s ability to absorb iron. So if your hemoglobin is low, it is better to avoid drinks with sugar content.

6. Exercise and Eat Well

Do moderate to high intensity workouts because when you exercise, your body makes more hemoglobin. Exercising in this way meets the increased demand for oxygen throughout your body. Eating a balanced diet is the best way to supply all the essential nutrients required by the body, and thus increase your hemoglobin.
